A few things have been irking me about some of the videos in the contest. Enough so that I felt the need to revise them for my personal collection versions.

So here it goes, "Go and Don’t Stop" only made me think of the few technical revisions to push the video to be cleaner and have better effects flow. I suppose it's lucky to be near the front and avoid the Madoka source fatigue going on now.

Another that caught my eye was the Be.ki video.
So I'm basically going to ramble but my core thought was, the video could be better with a different audio choice. That's it. There's more that could be done to fix it but that's a big part of the revision needed to give this video some punch. Here's a proposed revision. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il8VOtsyjoE

This video is serviceable but has a lot of "melody" syncing that didn't make a whole lot of sense in terms of importance. It needs to follow the core 124bpm beat structure more consistently to increase the quality of the production. Right now those melody points break the focus of the video. The shots with the guitar don't accurately sync up with the audio feed in the original. The combination of the two videos doesn't really give a synergy between themselves, I would recommend swapping out one or the other. Overall the concept really needed to be rethought from the ground up to give it more punch but why throw it away at this point. That said, it doesn't stop the video from being able to improve.

These are all beside the point of why I made this revision, they were just small things that irk me personally. Since there is enough on beat syncing to this video I wanted to reinforce the plot's concept with a better atmosphere audio, hopefully getting to see what the work could have been. The current video in my eyes shows a musician that gets inspired by his favorite band about the story of a haunting, exorcism, and eventual escape of one of the haunting demons. We see his thought process of the story in the video. Initially I thought I would want more of a guitar focus for the guitar syncs. I couldn't find anything that would work without re-positioning the guitar sync points in the video. I'm not really for that in a reflective review, so I shifted to an audio that would match the story I saw.

I did have to squeeze/stretch the audio to match the bpm but that's rather trivial. I matched one of the initial downbeat sync points at the beginning and the rest, it just shows where the core beat sync hits the original are. I think there are enough.

The next video is Megatari. This video made me go through a couple moments but it started out simple, rather slowly paced but that was in line with the audio. I don't feel that the begining's pacing was good but I also can't say I would have edited those sections different except for our school supply girl's foot stomp, the video pace died right there for the clip. It does manage to pick itself up and then ramps the video to 11 somewhere around 53s in.

I was happy. flow happened, action happened. My eyes were being told where to go and what to watch, this was magical. Sure it was slow before but that was all forgiven. This was that rare magic in an upbeat/action. What's more it was dub-steppy, I've really wanted to see a good dub step amv for some time now. It was like being answered for once in a long time without even asking

Then 1m56s happened. I became worried. "no. NO. NO! the pacing of the song dropped. NO!" I know the song must pick up, it can't let the video die like this. "Don't let the ball drop, it was flying it was playful, DON'T let this fall apart!" As I yelled at my screen like an idiot and pounded my desk the video fell apart before my eyes. From a technical standpoint, the video kept listening to the audio to the letter. This was its downfall. I had to step away from my desk, breathe, and remember the video doesn't change just because I want it to be different.

Since I personally found the beginning and the ending sections of the original video killed the overall pacing of a spectacular action video. I decided that the video needed to be cut down to hold the strong points of its editing. Now technically there should be a short section before the revised beginning but that would require an audio re-edit to correctly give the pacing conversion a shot.

It would probably intensify the video by relative pacing but that's just a potential aesthetic change. I feel that just the reduction is enough to get the point across.

I do worry that posting these thoughts may be rude but it feels enough like a moral grey area enough so that the positives may outweigh the negatives. Here's hoping.

But while it's true that we still have to wait for the remaining videos, I can perfectly recognize the styles of everyone even when the videos are currently anonymous. Surprised some entries are missing still (If it's true that everybody made it to the deadline)

It's intersting to see that you people can recognize the style of certain editors. I wasn't be able to recognize who did what myself yet, except for storming flames

Yeah, that's also what i understood. I'm not convinced by your revision though. To me, the actual music fit pretty well his concept, but the technical issues, and the lack of punch makes this video barely watchable at some point, but i think we can still find the synergy between the two animes. Well, with much more work this concept could have been awesome.

I'll say it: Once some of the videos participating in the contest comes, I'll post some comments I have to make. Really feel in the mood to do it. After all if I was right about who the author of the video was, that's more than enough reason to do it
