I have a question about categories. Just got an email saying selection is about to end, but I know of quite a few category ideas that got sent, but weren't added to the list that don't feel redundant or negative in any way so I'm curious as to other reasons you wouldnt allow them to be options ^^ I guess I just dont understand why we are being so much more limited on our category selection this year in comparison to the others I have participated in.

I was wondering the same thing, actually.

I also submitted a category idea that wasn't approved, that many other people want as well. ^^ It's quite unfortunate that the people who are providing the videos and making up the majority and basis of the contest don't get to decide what categories are in their own contest.

I thought I either added the categories, or discussed why I didn't here. Email me what's still missing, and I'll see what's up.

Note... all suggestions for combination categories are rejected. There will be no "Best Horror / Sentimental" or "Best Action / Golf". Those are two different things. If it's not strong enough to stand alone, it's not a category. If I quashed your combination, and you'd like me to try it out as a stand alone category, let me know via email, and we can let this go another day, holiday weekend and all.

After watching everything here are my notes from last night involving alcohol and other editors. Please don't take these too seriously. Some are serious and some are just derp.

103 - "Are they going to dance at some point? Or at least shut up?"
111 - Eh, not enough shark.
117 - Best trap? ... Best trap.
135 - Ah there is some shark! :shark:
154 - How do you take that song and that source and make it boring? Someone else said tedious. Yeah.
164 - wow. Um. Yeah. Not a good wow.
172 - Sylvester Stallone impersonation karaoke championship award.
178 - Could have been good. Fairly well edited but super linear.
182 - Pendulum - Granite again! 7 years after it came out. Did they just plop an episode on a timeline?
185 - Nope
204 - Good Source, Good song. Rough combo. Could have been really well but focused on action too much.
278 - Cool I guess. I like art school demo reels too. I give them props for all the detail but it wasn't edited well.
282 - Michael Bay Award
308 - That was... conceptually experimental.
310 - Do you want to see heaven tonight? Well there are no angels in this video.
314 - Soon!
352 - Death Pool! I'll rewatch this one.
383 - Early 90's bingo card
387 - Best technical? Technically maybe.
404 - So let me be the first to say that when this video goes live on the web it will go viral.
406 - Fairly well edited. Nice one.
410 - It's an ok trailer.
423 - This would have been an awesome video 2 years ago.
436 - Am I supposed to be depressed now?
442 - Good action.
459 - Ouch
471 - Best Curveball
473 - Now I have seen that. Are you happy?
480 - Did I watch this one? I know I watched it but I didn't write anything down. :shark:
485 - Pretty good but standard Disney
487 - Good video, well edited.
501 - No
506 - Good start and then lost it's way.
520 - Best Commercial.
523 - Pretty good.
524 - Fun video.
542 - Good trailer
548 - Henry Rollins Spirit award
581 - In the running for Best Comedy
584 - Best action
586 - Best Technical Technicality.
588 - Wasted.
592 - Lotta repeated scenes there.
603 - Best Merica/Action
604 - #GMO addict.
608 - #Sidechick. That's what they were saying right?
611 - No
613 - I only regret my Bonitis.
615 - #JoinTheCult
623 - #DrugsAreBad
626 - #GrassGrowing
641 - 90's bingo card complete.
656 - Now you're getting into the swing of things
668 - Really good for a Metropolis video. Great use of underused scenes from a source that is overused.
674 - Troll Award? Yeah. Kind of genius.
679 - Derpy Hoover award.
690 - I... I... Yeah.
696 - Best dance video?
704 - Slow.... Different but slow.
771 - No
773 - Not enough edits or enough matching the song.
779 - Did you only download the first episode for source?
803 - Short at least.
820 - Nope.
844 - Best in Show?
879 - Well I know where this one is going. Yep.
889 - #Abbreviated
895 - Good idea, bad execution.
913 - Started out good and then got lazy.
925 - 1/10 Wouldn't bang.
949 - Shortest Troll?
957 - Sure. Ok
964 - :shark:
966 - Best action? Best action
977 - Odds are this won't win.
987 - Did they just music swap that first video? No... ok.

Approximately how many categories are we going to have? Depending on how many we have will affect if I want to vote for a few of these categories.

There's no reason to not allow combination categories because it allows for a bigger pool of those videos, and the majority of contests have been doing that since forever. (Upbeat/Dance, Horror/Pysche, etc.) Plus a good amount of people want them.

Not me specifically. Just my personal preference but I don't like combination categories. Seeing a title like "Upbeat/Dance" makes me feel like the video is required to be both upbeat AND dance in order to qualify instead of either/or.
