There's where I'm at. I honestly don't really care either way. I think some people liked them and I'm all for people having their fun but lets make sure it's functional and not confusing.

I say that we just keep the default names for the official category list.

If you do decide on a theme for the forums, I'd suggest using sailor moon.
here are a few that I thought up.
Spoiler :
Best Romance: The Tuxedo Mask Award
Best First Video: The Mini-Moon Award
Best Collab: The Sailor Scout Award
Best MEP: The Group Transformation Award
Best Comedy: The Meatball Head Award
Best Parody: The Wedding Peach Award
Best Special Effects: The Moon Prism Power Award
Mosh Helpful: The Luna Award
Editor of the Year: The Princess Serena Award

Not that there's any categorization set up to make this fairly practical, but Best IC would be an interesting category addition.

I x# keeping things simple and not distracting people from the theoretically important business of the VCAs when actual voting starts. I don't think I even made it through all the voting last year, because of the aggravation. Kept getting my categories mixed up. :|

As has been suggested, a theme might be fun for the forums if everyone can participate...what about this: usually the category threads have a short sentence or two explaining what the point of voting a video "best of" in a given category means. Leave this explanation there, but expand it with a fun analogy suggested by .Org members. Let me give this a shot with one from last year:

Rookie of the Year (a.k.a. The Shinji Ikari Award): This award goes to the new editor who shows the most promise and has most consistently done the best work during their first year of editing. Doesn't mean they're the best Eva-pilot in the world - maybe they've got some "issues" - but they keep beating the odds and seem destined for great things.

This. Although for the crowd that likes to visit the org daily, putting names might be fun, but the org is visited also by editors from other communities that just use the amv announcements, they vanish and return by the time the VCAs start without reading the etiquettes. I think by the time of voting, just keeping the default names will be helpful, and will make the voters think clearly what they will vote

keep them basic. If they do have to have whacky fun time names, use them as a sub-heading rather than the main heading.

I changed the format of the categories in last year's results. The new categories will follow the same format.

I'm fine with all these catagories.
Through great tragedy doom follows
but through this force barriers have been broken the fusion of good and evil has been formed
now let that force shine through out the universe
