JOURNAL: TnAdct1 (Joseph Klemm)

  • May 2021 Progress Report 2021-05-10 22:56:42 A report on what I've been up to recently.

Summer Video: To be perfectly honest, I haven't really done any work at all for a possible summer video. A lot of this has to do with the uncertainty of whether or not Otakon will happen this year (and if the convention will even have an AMV Contest due to how long it is taking to confirm whether or not the con will be a go this year). Meanwhile, the other local con for me, Anime USA, has officially announced that they are taking 2021 off due to the closing of where the con has been held for since 2012. If Otakon's Contest does happen this year, I may try to make a quick video. Otherwise, I may end up sending one of AWA Pro entries instead (not sure which one though, as one is more appropriate for AMV Contests, while the other would fit well with the Otakon atmosphere due to the original video that I based it on).

AMV Hell 8: Right now, I have five videos ready for it once the submission process starts. Meanwhile, I do have an idea for a sixth video (one that could be questionable due to content), and you never know when another idea will pop up thanks to what's currently airing this season (with my most recent video made for using footage that just aired a few days ago).

Fall Videos: I already have plans of what I'm going to do for the fall convention season (in particular, AWA). The two main anime-themed ones are in current stages of development (one is still in the planning phase that is halfway done; another is awaiting for certain content to air this summer due to what I'm planning to do with the video; both of them do have initial editing done). I also have another video that I've been working on since Fall 2019 that I may get finished in time for the con.
  • AWA Status Report 2020-11-05 00:20:50 With AWA finally accepting entries, here's where I'm currently at in terms of the contests.

Expo: Like with Youmacon, all the videos that made this year so far and KyoAniNoon are being submitted for the Expo. I also have one more new video planned for the event. As for what it will be, it all depends on the work that I'm doing for...

Pro: My top priority once AWA was accepting entries was to submit the my first entry into this year's Pro Contest, which had been sitting on my computer for a few months now. I do plan to submit a second video this year. Currently, I'm working on a video that I'm hoping will be that entry, and I'm surprised at how much I was able to complete in the last 24 hours. However, while the video is close to 90% complete, I am at the part where it's the hardest to fill in the the timeline. While I'm sure that I can get this video done in five days, I do another video (one that I originally planned as my second Pro video before I started work on my current project) ready to go just in case I can't finish it in time and I have to send it to Expo instead.
  • Halloween Convention Cluster**** Update 2019-10-31 00:14:45 With a big weekend of conventions starting tomorrow (and a few new videos prepared for this). Here's an update of what is going on in terms of both.

Anime Weekend Atlanta: New Video 1 has been submitted to the Pro Contest, with voting already done for that. Meanwhile, my summer video, Lament of the Lo(ne)li Demon Lord, and New Video 2 have been sent to Expo.

Youmacon: Both Lament of the Lo(ne)li Demon Lord and New Video 2 have been sent to this convention, with both of them making the finals. In terms of New Video 2, I'm not sure which version will be shown, as I have made an alternate version that would allow for it to compete in contests that require a 30-second minimum.

Anime USA: Lament of the Lo(ne)li Demon Lord managed to make the finals at that convention. So, for the fifth year in a row, along with my usual attendance on Friday night, I also plan to swing by the Saturday showing of the Contest to to see how people react to it (usually, the reactions are much bigger at the Saturday night showing). Meanwhile, I'm also hosting a panel Friday afternoon, with plans to premiere New Video 3 (which I just finished up this week) during it.

Online Plans: For New Videos 2 & 3, I'm gonna try to set things up so that way they will be available on Youtube Friday at various times (Video 2 will hopefully be up after the Friday Night screening of Youmacon's AMV Contest, while I'm aiming for Video 3 to be up immediately after the panel). As for AMV.org entries, I hope to have them up by Tuesday (as I have a birthday to go to on Sunday and work on Monday). Meanwhile, while I do plan to have an AMV.org entry for New Video 1. between wanting to make a certain addition to it and the nature of the video, I'm not sure how the release of that will be handled (outside putting it on my Google Drive).
  • Halloween Convention Cluster**** Plans 2019-09-08 11:44:19 My status report in terms of how I'm planning to handle the mess that is AWA happening the same weekend as Anime USA and Youmacon.

Summer video: I still plan to send my summer video to all three cons this year.

Pro video: I sent my Pro entry days ago to AWA, so I'm ready for that. I'm disappointed that I can't send this video to my local con of Anime USA, but I definitely plan to send it to Katsucon.

Main Project: After a lot of false starts, I found an idea of my main fall video. Deadline wise, I'm fine if I can't finish this in time for the contests (more than likely it will miss the AWA Expo deadline). However, I do want to get this done before Anime USA, as I've sent an AMV panel submission, and given the theme of the panel and my song choice, I thought it would be cool to debut the video at said panel if I can't complete it by the time of con deadlines.

Side Project: While researching for the main project, I got an idea of another video, and since it will more than likely be finished quickly, I will take some time off from the main project to make this video and have at least one more video in AWA Expo (and possibly Youmacon).
  • Fall Videos Progress Report 2018-08-25 12:09:22 I have a couple of videos planned for the fall. In terms of their current status:

Project 1 (Seasonal Project): Got this project completed a few weeks ago, with plans to send it to some of the fall cons (already sent it to AWA). However, given some of the content featured in the video (nothing bad, just stuff that could cause legal problems), I may produce a "lawyer-friendly" version of some of the other cons.

Project 2: I'm about 10 scenes away from completion. I'm hoping to get this done in time for the AWA Pro deadline. However, if push comes to shove, it may wind up in the Expo instead.
