Shin Hatsubai video #69's "Other" designation should read as "odd", or "testament", because this video has some superficial similarities to #34 that make it interesting for those interested in convergences and the like. Like #34, this was an excellent idea that turned into a video decidedly not.

Whereas the problem with #34 is that it just sucks, this one fails by trying too hard. The cuts are too fast, there are too many effects, and the normal SH non sequitur/motif cuts, at this speed, give the impression of pure randomness. The main problem is with timing; it was timed correctly in the editing environment, but this for some reason didn't carry over into the rendered versions.

This video will not be submitted for competition if I can help it. However, it taught me some important things about the stability of my editing environment that I'll need to bear in mind for at least one project in the future, maybe several, and reinforced some of my core values as an editor by showing me what happens when I let go of 'em.

It's not a bad video, but it's definitely not good either. A shame this had to happen to a DT song. Effects include: grayscale, colorize (Damage Done Red), acceleration, deceleration, reverse, flip-horizontal, levels-adjust, threshold, threshold-blur. This video also set records for number of transitions, number of cuts, and edit speed, none of which turned out to be good things.

Shin Hats Self Grade: C+/B-, for reasons described above.
