• Comments: Well, this has probably been my fastest and most painless AMV to make (not including Iron Chef AMV). I came up with the concept of using the song in around December 2006, after having finished 'Bang Bang, My Baby Shot me Down (Excel Saga)'. A bunch of us from the Deakin Anime Club were all playing Singstar on PS2, and after a few rounds of Good Charlotte I realised that it fitted the anime we were currently watching, Welcome to the NHK!
  
  I've realised that my last 2 AMVs have been quite... odd. They're not straight dramas, and they're definately not straight comedies. They're more that kind of melancholy, depressed/pensive mood. I think after this one I'll go for something a bit more straight, probably a comedy or a drama or an action, I have lots in mind ^_~
  
  Anyway, I used Sony Vegas Video 6. Absolutely brilliant. I highly recommend this piece of software, if it is available to you. Much better than Adobe, Ulead, anything else I've used. And I'm still learning to use it effectively!
  
  Something else I learned, is that having *lots* of hard disk space is a very good thing. I had reconfigured my computer so my 300 gb hard drive only really had my amv stuff on it, which was good because I was working with the entire unsubbed series of NHK (only around 6gb), but the last few episodes had problems with the codec, so I had to re-render the entire episodes to make them usable (otherwise they glitched). So I was partially working with uncompressed video.... which is surprisingly (to me) a lot faster to edit than compressed. Which makes a lot of sense, in retrospect.
  
  Anyway.. as for the actual AMV:
  I think it started out strong. I think it ended strong. I think it had some decent bits in the middle... but I know that I could have done better with more technical knowledge. I would love to throw more text around the video, I had a go at it but it looked tacky, as I really had no idea what I was doing. It worked with the lines "rich & famous", but when I tried to get artistic, it looked over-tacky. Maybe I need more practice in that area, or a tutorial perhaps.
  
  What else... it's being entered into the Manifest 2007 competition which closes in about 2 weeks, so I'm actually well ahead of time for once (rare!). I would have liked to get a second one done this year, but oh well.
  
  I guess if you havn't seen NHK ni Youkoso, it probably won't mean a huge amount to you. I think it's really an anime for those who have seen all of and liked the series. I can't comment on the manga, as I havn't seen it yet.. but unfortunately I can't imagine people liking this AMV if they're not a fan of the series.
  
  But I don't make AMVs for popularity, I make them for the art and the enjoyment ^_^
