Final Fantasy IX is easily one of the most underrated of all the next-generation Final Fantasies, and is, despite its cartoonish look, a complex game with multi-layered characters. At the heart of FF9, however, is the struggle to come to terms with one's place in society - do we fight the path fate has mapped out for us or embrace it? Just as each character has their assigned job class, each also has been assigned a role in life - be it wanderer, princess, knight, slave, tyrant, puppet, innocent, etc. . . and each questions that role and attempts to rebel against it before finding a balance between accepting their responsibilities and redefining them. This video was my attempt to address that aspect of the game, and as such is a bit more subtle than my prior ones in terms of storyline.
The video tries to find its center by focusing on Princess Garnet and her journey from a princess who sought adventure and questioned her past to a queen who denied her love for the wandering thief Zidane in order to fulfill her obligations as leader of Alexandria - however, it also tries to touch upon each of the characters' journeys as well.
