    Audio Source
    Steam by Peter Gabriel
Yeah yeah yeah, another Peter Gabriel song... it wasn't intentional, it just sorta happened - honest! Of course, being a Peter Gabriel song, the song was well over 6 minutes in length (and that was the radio edit I started with) and I ended cutting out about a little over a minute from the final run-time of it.

    Video Source
    Azumanga Daioh
I was a late-comer to this series and had it as well as my audio source above on my PMP on a very long plane trip earlier this year. Switching between watching the series and listening to my music (and having to make the 'obligatory' Azumanga Daioh video all editors seem required to make) it was only time these two would be added together in my head.

    Basic Ideas and Themes
This video was pure and simple an experiment in literalism for me. Song said 'tree', you see a 'tree' - the song said 'car', you see a 'car'. The fun part was finding the 'tree' and 'car' scenes, or trying to equate them with other 'plausible' equivalents.

    Lyrics
As this vid is very lyrically driven, just in case you're not familiar with them, here they are:

    Stand Back!
    Stand Back!

    [lyrics removed from vid]
What are those dogs doing sniffing at my feet
They're on to something, picking up
Picking up this heat, this heat

    [/lyrics removed from vid]

    [Chorus 1:]
    Give me steam
And how you feel to make it real
    Real as anything you've seen
Get a life with this dreamer's dream

You know your culture from your trash
You know your plastic from your cash
When I lose sight of the track
    You know the way back
    But I know you

You know your stripper from your paint
You know your sinner from your saint
    Whenever heaven's doors are shut
    You kick them open but
    I know you

    [Chorus 2:]
    Give me steam
And how you feel to make it real
Real as any place you've been
Get a life with the dreamer's dream

    Stand back!
    Stand back!
Can't you see I've lost control I'm getting indiscreet
You're moving in so close 'til I'm picking up
Picking up this heat, this heat

    [Chorus 1]

You know your green from your red
You know the quick from the dead
So much better than the rest
    You think you've been blessed
    But I know you

You know your ladder from your snake
You know the throttle from the brake
You know your straight line from a curve
You've got a lot of nerve
    But I know you

    [Chorus 2]

    Everybody nosedive
Hold your breath, count to five
    Backslap, boobytrap,
    Cover it up in bubblewrap
    Room shake, earthquake
Find a way to stay awake
It's going to blow, it's going to break
This is more than I can take

    Oh yeah, I need steam
Feel the steam all around me
    [lyrics removed from vid]
Ah you're turning up the heat
When I start to dream aloud
See you move your hands and feet
Won't you step into this cloud of steam
    This steam

    [/lyrics removed from vid]

    [Chorus 1]

    Help me yeah
Ready to steam out the log jam
    [lyrics removed from vid]
Stir crazy from the freezer to the boil
    Water's bubbling, it's b..b..b..bubbling
    bubbling [x4]
like it's coming to a boil
    Give me steam, lady

    [/lyrics removed from vid]
Give me steam around me now
    Aah coming alive [x2]
    Said give me some steam

    Visual Effects
Well, not much - some masking, some frame creation, some lip syncing, some motion tracking. All fun stuff and relatively simple.

    Technical
Video Editor: Magix Movie Edit Pro 10 (I really should upgrade)
    Local Encode: MP4 [Q=25] Zarx264gui (a very awesome program)

Note: to vie the MP4 file, you will either rneed the CCCP codec pack installed onto your computer or use VLC Player (google is your friend).

Time: off and on, for about 6 months - too many hours to count.

    Closing Thoughts
I donno, just a bit of fun for me really. No deeper meanings, no hidden messages - just good ol' plain fun. I hope you enjoy!
