  • Comments: Top of the Rain is a Whisper of the Heart video done in 2002 by Tom the Fish, who has subsequently become a giant asshole bit of a recluse and wants nothing to do with AMVs or have anyone download or host his videos. He even made Minion take them off the vault. Which is a shame, he was one of my favorite editors. So in the interest of personal enjoyment, mac learning curve (not even crossover was used to make this video, just native mac programs), a service to the community, and a Fuck You "garsh, that's not very nice" to Tom's attitude, I decided to remaster Top of the Rain.

    I really don't think our culture allows for you to demand people stop enjoying your videos. It's fine if you drop off the radar, like Caldwell did, but don't suddenly act like you can erase your existence from an internet based community. I feel if you abandon your post, the works become a semi-public domain. The idea of a person in a remix culture like amvs demanding we respect his right not to archive, show, or god forbid, enjoy his videos, is absolutely ludicrous.

    The old schoolers may like the video, I don't know. It was mostly a project done for myself, with a healthy dose of community activism thrown in.
