  • Comments: So What is Gothik II?
Gothik II(roman numerals for '2') is the sequel to the original Multi Editor Project called
Gothik While beta testing was being undertaken for the first MEP there were many other editors who wanted to take part but as the MEP was full and utilising pre selected audio sources no other editors wer able to participate. So this MEP was created, even though the first MEP wasn't finished at the time, strangely enough all those editors who origionally were pushing for the MEP to be created never actually finished a segment :p
The Gothik MEPs are about style specifically the Gothic style:
"A style of literature characterized by a gloomy setting, grotesque, mysterious, or violent events, and an atmosphere of degeneration and decay: 19th-century gothic novels. "
    and
"Gothic is sophisticated barbarism. It is a passion for life draped in the symbolism of death. It is a cynical love of sentiment. It is a marriage of extremes such as sex and death. It uses darkness to illuminate. It believes duty is vain, and vanity to be a duty. It is the compulsion to do the wrong thing for all the right reasons. It is a yearning nostalgia for the black days of a past that never was. It denies orthodox reality and puts its faith in the imaginary. It is the unholy, the uncanny, the unnatural."
    and
"A style of architecture, originating in France in the middle of the 12th century and existing in the western half of Europe through the middle of the 16th century, characterized by the use of the pointed arch and the ribbed vault, by the use of fine woodwork and stonework, by a progressive lightening of structure, and by the use of such features as flying buttresses, ornamental gables, crockets, and foils. "

    Track 1: Meteor Dragon
"Hi.......I changed how I was going to do the part of the intro I did....at least 2 time before I found a fit (normal when I edit). So...I have no clue how I came up with the idea....I usually just come up with the strangest editing ideas anyways...but I started playing with sound effects while editing it (so note the diff sounds). I'd like to thank TheSkyGunner for the first section of music (Arise). I'd also like to thank Godix for the beta (he helped me keep a few things in mind). I enjoyed using Hell Girl for this a lot…and I plan on doing something in the future haha. Thanks Aut.
Notes: The Hell girl exacts vengeance on those who are in need…after pulling a red thread from around a dolls neck. The intro is kind of how she came to be…."

    Track 2: Autraya
"Originally I was supposed to do the entire intro track and MD was using Daylight dancer by Lacuna Coil, then about half way through editing i realised i was having trouble match my source to my audio and i offered the entire intro to MD, he said no origionally and the was hit by inspiration(must have hurt) and sent me a beta... well since my intro idea sucked in comparison to what he made we cut up the track to share it and I kept his intro. I'm dissapointed in my track purely because the source has trouble fitting in, it's about as "Gothic" as the anime becomes, vampires full moons victorian age caridges etc. next time i'll be picking something easier to match up i think."

    Track 3: Phantasmagoriat
"...well this is the first time I've made anything for a MEP... so I guess I'll type some stuff. If you're familiar with my other amv's, you would know I love switching up my style of vids, so when Autraya invited me to join, I knew this was something I would have done anyway. It took a lot of sifting through my music collection, but when I came across Katatonia, I instantly remembered the kind of haunting atmosphere in one particular song. I will forewarn that not all of their music is like this, and they have a wide range of music styles-- This makes Katatonia awesome IMO, but keep that in mind if you want to listen to their stuff. The anime is called 'Kigeki,' which means 'Comedy.' It is a rare anime, only 10min long, but it is HANDS DOWN the most gothic anime I've ever come across-- Watch it! So anyways, I synced them together, and a couple days later sent Aut a beta. Simple as that. Fastest amv ever for me... so apparently I has gold stars nao. Special thanks to Autraya for inviting me to the MEP.
I hope everyone enjoys my rendition of something Gothik
    ~Phan"

    Track 4: Cast to Stone
    "Bitch :3"

    Track 5: Verses
"So along came Autraya and MD... Looking for last minute editors to part-take in their little MEP entitled "Gothik II". I forget whether I gave off the impression that I had free time or if I was blackmailed into joining.Anyways, I decided to use The Soultaker considering it was the closest source to "gothic" I had. I forced Autraya to give me an audio source and a few too many threats later (from Aut :3), I managed to please her with the completion of my segment. Regrets you ask? Hmm... having been told earlier. |: Thanks assholes :3"

    Track 6: Fizziks
"For my anime choice, Darker Than Black was one series that I thought fit the "gothic" motif pretty well: it's about a guy all dressed in black who hunts down supernatural enemies while wearing a creepy mask (well.....at least it fits the motif for me). My song choice (which is Disarm by the Smashing Pumpkins) is something that may appear a little unusual considering the MEP's theme, but the more I listened to it, the more I felt that its the dark and moody melody fit both my anime choice, as well as the gothic theme (plus, I've been wanting to use the song for quite some time)."

    Track 7:U_Queen
"For me MEPs are important because, in one project like this I decided to improve as editor, when comparing with the others and working together for making some awesome stuff. When Aut invited me to this project I wasn't sure if I could give the grade but I wanted to try. It was hard for me finding my own concept of gothic, not sure if I accomplished but the results are good. I want to thank Autraya for the detailed beta testing, and for the pressed deadline (without it I would slack a lot)."

    Track 8(outro):Autraya
"nice song heard it on the moonlight TV series during an episode, I think Eva-Fan eventually found it and sent it to me. Turns out it's a little to repeatative to edit to but is good for outro's "
