  That was sweet wasn't it.
  
  Shinkai, is known for his pretty clouds and his crying girls. I believe these deeply personal animations are a reflection of his own life. The Cycling of himself into his own editing program represents the masterbatory way he creates his work.
  
  I also feel that most of the problems represented in his work stem from a poor relationship with his own maternity figure. Shinkai's fantisies may indicate he was unable to move past the desire to have sex with his mother and his deep resentment for his father. The clouds are much like Shinkai's own totenism, which according to Freud may reflect a ritualized renactment of his own oedipal conflict.
