  Back in 1999, a 17 year old Castor Troy was inspired to make amvs after his friend firey made amvs from clips that Castor captured from the newest DBZ tapes and a cheap TV Tuner card. Realizing that the DBZ web community was filled with countless videos that used whatever popular rock or metal song at the time, Castor wanted to try something different. Becoming a fan of a language that he could barely understand, but sounded really cool to him, he decided to enter the world of amvs with an unusual DBZ/Jpop combination. From that day, the rest is history.
  
  10 years later after many amv contests, awards, panels, conventions, and even breaking into the film industry, it's time to go back to the beginning where it all began.
  
  This is the Reunion.
  
  I had no idea what I was going to do for my 10th anniversary of making amvs. When the new Slayers Revolution series was coming out, dwchang told me that I should make a video to "Plenty of grit" set to DBZ. Back in the day I was very well known for doing DBZ/Megumi Hayashibara videos. However, I haven't done that combination since 2001.
  
  After listening to "Plenty of grit", I thought about it long and hard... and finally decided that I would make a 10th anniversary video.
  
  Instead of re-telling a certain part of the DBZ saga, I decided to do a theme video based on the 2 father/sons of the series, Goku/Gohan and Vegeta/Trunks. Destined to fight since birth, this video follows the theme of progression between both the heroes and villains.
  
  Tidbits
  
  - The title "Reunion" has nothing to do with the video itself. It's just the reunion between me, DBZ, and Megumi Hayashibara.
  
  - First video I did on a mac with Final Cut Pro. Thanks to what I learned from making this video, I was able to land my first job as a film editor in the industry :)
  
  - Several of the clips (Saiyan Saga, Early Namek, Bardock Special, Trunks Special, and SSJ2 Gohan vs Cell) are used from the R2 DBZ dvds which are in much better quality than the R1 releases. These will be released under the "Dragon Boxes" coming out later this year. I'm REALLY glad I didn't buy the season sets.
  
  - I used the first and last shots of DBZ.
  
  - Bojack and Brolly were added for dwchang because they had plenty of grit. :P
  
  - There are no effects, strobes, insane timing, or even fades in the video. Just simple and straight cut editing, like back in the old days.
  
  - Ok, so part of the above statement is a lie. I did play some clips backwards or sped them up a bit. :/
  
  - The first Megumi Hayashibara video I did in 7 years. Last one I did was the Soul of Darkness remake in 2001 and I finished this video in 2008.
  
  - It was difficult to go back and edit in this style, but it made me appreciate the simplicity of straight cuts once again.
  
  While it was Go the distance that got me my first job in the industry, I'd like to think it was all of my videos as a whole that got me up to this point. Throughout the years, I've learned new techniques, made great friends, and was open to more opportunities because of amv editing. It truly has become something that has affected my life in a profound and positive way.
