Nan Desu Kan hosted its first ever AMV Iron Chef competition this year, and Tsunami Jones and I used it to stage our tiebreaker match (after we each had been defeated by the other during Brad's Online Iron Chef Tournaments). NDK's theme this year was steampunk, so our list of available sources included Steamboy, Last Exile, Metropolis, Castle in the Sky, Big O, and the required secret ingredient: Atlantis, the Lost Empire. I've never read much steampunk, so I chose to play on the genre's name and show steam on some punk rock. ZephyrStar recorded the opening dialogue for me to help set up the joke.
This copy is mostly the same as what I made at NDK. I had left some of the beginning unfinished, and I ran out of time before I could add the karaoke titles, but it was apparently enough to beat TJ. Good match, buddy. Same time next year?
