  SH116 is an idea which was, at the time I finally started work on it, between six and eight years old; I first heard the song in 2001 or 2002, and drew up the connection, which the video should show as pretty obvious, pretty much as soon as GTO started coming out on DVD. The challenge of cutting up a long series -- and then dealing with the shitty print, as I realized would be a major obstacle as soon as I started looking closely -- was a major factor in this getting pushed off as long as it did; the video eventually went to completion largely because of a decision to restrict scope to two discs only out of the eight that I had.
  
  Videography-wise, this is half character-profile and half inspirational. The dedication at the end makes it a little more posi and youthcrew than the song really merits, but really, that's the way it goes: if you never run into a teacher good enough to set "the spark", you need to listen to hardcore to get up the combination of self-belief and relentless defiance needed to deal with this world.
  
  Shin Hats self-grade: B/B-. A decent video; it's not great, but it's got integrity, man. (No, not Integrity, just regular integrity, make your own Integrity video.)

  About the music: Ensign are/were a hardcore band from Jersey, most of whose output is a lot more in the vein of East Coast hardcore (think Sick Of It All or Agnostic Front) than the almost OC-styled melodic-hxc on display in this video. If this is all code words to you, seriously, go listen to some Black Flag and Bad Religion before it's absolutely too late, then check out the otherwise-mentioned bands. Hardcore is pretty much self-explanatory, that's kind of the point.
  
  Other stuff:
  The music under the trailer is sampled from the intro to "Hands On Stance" by Ignite. This video has a "B side" in the form of INSO17.
