  • Comments: WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO MY ALL NEW ANIME MUSIC VIDEO! FULL OF ACTION, EXCITEMENT, AND...okay, that's enough of that.

Squid Girl Is Metal. It took me a few years, but I finally got back into the swing of things. More or less. Let's hope I can keep up the pace even further.

This vid was inspired by two videos from the past, Doki Doki's "Lollipops, Sunshine, and rrrRRRrrr" video from 2003, and Scintilla's "An Anime Music Squideo!" from last year. I made sure to add on my silly sense of humor/sick dementia to make it my own.

As usual, I use Pinnacle Studio Plus to edit everything; good thing Version 12 still works with Window 7! (make sure to update your video cards if you're upgrading from Vista)

A lot of it also implements Adobe Photoshop; it's basic Elements, since it came with the computer, but it gets the job done well. It was used for several of the news stingers, image alterations, and head proppings. I feel my finest work was for the creation of Chizero at the end. Went better than I thought.

All the images are from several DVD sources, with some minor exceptions, particularly the footage of the Inner Harbor I took using the recorder function of my Sony Cyber-shot camera. Damn, that works fine! I made sure to edit in 16:9 this time; why didn't I just do this before? Did I have that feature before? It's been so f**king long, I can't remember. Meh. Point is, I'm happy now.

As for the song, you'd be surprised how many metal songs there are about squids. I tried to find the one with the most garbled words so that I could make a translation for the squid-impaired. Some of the lyrics were left in from the original song, while others I worked out in my head ahead of time but eventually just made up on the fly. Practically fits the syntax too! I ended up cutting the song down by a minute since I didn't get enough footage for the full song. That and I didn't want to use the same censor joke twice. That image joke, by the way, I found somewhere on Google images. Thanks goes out to whoever did whatever I mentioned before.

This baby premiered at Otakon 2012 and snagged Second Place in Comedy. A well earned semi-win, I'd say. Compared to the cool competition. I'm already looking forward to next year's vid. Might even make some other vids in between. In the meantime, enjoy!
