  • Comments: SH128 is a weird instrumental tone-poem piece that, if I had started working on the Flag of Hate around when it finished instead of six months earlier, might have replaced SH125 in the final slot; the idea to use the last half of Beheaded Zombie's "Life Line" for something originated when putting together contenders for project ideas in the Flag of Hate, but I didn't associate it to Koufuku Graffiti until that anime started coming out, at which point I had to get into process on SH126 rather than add more warmups into the queue. It is probably a better take on "do weird things with effects and Russian tech-death" than its predecessor, but that will be on the eye of the beholder.


    Shin Hats Self Grade: B+. This is a cool little not-completely-serious video that manages its effects design pretty ok.

    About the anime: Koufuku Graffiti is way better than it has a right to be, as a moderately-fappy cooking show aired in the middle of the goddamn night. It's also deceptively well-suited to death metal; even if you missed the double-bass foot-movement patterns, there's this, which you can't convince me the animators didn't draw as an explicit Haemorrhage reference.

    About the music: Beheaded Zombie are no longer together, but their Life Line record, which this closes, did get some distro outside the old Eastern Block, and is absolutely worth the pick if you run across it in a record store, on someone's distro table, or while downloading other stuff. As the music on the video implies, there's a lot of late-period Death influence, but with some more angular sounds typical of modern tech stuff and a raw production that pushes up the intensity.


    There is also an omake INSO track tangentially related to this video that may well be even weirder than this one is.
