  • Comments: It seems to have become a tradition for me: every winter, there's at least one anime that airs in that season that interests me, with me having the desire to make an AMV set to it. This year, the anime in question is Endro!, a light-hearted CGDCT series that is a spoof of various tropes that are found in RPG's.

An idea for what to do for an Endro! video came around Katsucon weekend, when the series aired an episode that provides some backstory on Mao, a child-size demon lord who, after being sent back in time, becomes the teacher for a quartet of female adventurers, with the ditzy pink-haired member of the group being the hero that is destined to do battle with her. In that episode, it is revealed that Mao had a crappy time as a demon lord (in that she is tied to an undesired fate and that those who would serve her, in particular a golem maid that became close to, would supposedly lose their lives in the long run), with the trip back through time and her teaching job being the best thing that can happen to her. It's after thinking about the episode a little that an idea popped in my head about doing a character profile video for her using set to "I'm So Ronery".

Editing this one was another challenge. For one thing, there was really only eight episodes of Endro! that I could work with, thus making it somewhat hard to find clips to match with the song (especially during the final days editing). Also, some time before I began working on the video, I got used to the masking tool on Sony Vegas working on something for the AMV Blender event at Katsucon (it won't be until next February at the earliest until it is shown, although I do have it on my phone to test people's reactions). With that experience, this video featured a number of shots that utilize masked effects (using both the masking tool and the usual techniques that I used in earlier videos), and me having to learn some learn some new editing techniques in the process.
