Comments:
1707 was a concept that I had for years, with me starting some early edits on it in 2017 (back when I used Vegas 11). What got me to finally complete this idea (with an updated version of Vegas and a different rig) was the news that my home con, Otakon, was actually taking place in 2021, with me wanting to continue my tradition of having something fresh for that con (it's a good thing that a lot of shows that fit the theme of the video aired during the pandemic).
Ever since I really got into anime, one thing that I've noticed is that when it comes to humanoid female characters, the ones that I tend to enjoy tend to be either kids that haven't started going through puberty or girls whose chests are on the flat/small side. This has nothing to do with anything perverted. Rather, it's due to me preferring their personalities, (either due to kawaiiness or the comical things that they do). Around 2007-2008, I got into the Touhou-inspired song "Tsurupettan", a song that involves the flat-chested nature of some of the characters in the franchise (with the title’s English translation being "Smooth and Flat"). Considering all the videos out there involving big-breasted women, I thought it would be fun to see a video from the other side of the spectrum.
Editing this video was no easy task. To begin with, feeling that I couldn't find enough footage to carry the whole song, I trimmed the length by about half to make it easier for me (even then, I was having problems trying to find ideal footage during the final days of editing). Then, there's the fact that while it may be easy to get what it being hinted at in the chorus (i.e. flat chested girls), the verse was going to need some sort of subtitle to understand how it connects to the song (with me also needing to figure out how to do the section about an oni being defeated by a miko). Finally, there's the fact that there's a few sections that I plan to use that required 4x3 footage being adjusted to 16x9 in a way that doesn't have the footage come off as completely stretched (with things being made more complicated when the 4x3 footage would automatically be stretched out when I dropped it onto the timeline, with me having to convert it back to 4x3 before doing my personal 16x9 adjustments).
