  The inspiration
  
  I was driving my car from Scintilla's dorm and listening to my new "Freaky Friday" soundtrack and this one song came on about a teenage girl trying to live life but it's a struggle. And I kinda started to think about Asuka and how she tries to deal with her life. She tries so hard to be #1, the best. But she really never completes a mission completely on her own. She kicks and slaps a lot....throws a few fits. She perfect for the second verse of the song.
  
  The production
  
  I chose Misato for the first verse because it is about the girl waking up, her morning routine and how it will lead to a hard day. Misato has a very interesting morning routine that leads to difficult days.
  
  Rei was chosen for the final part because although she is not an emotional character, it is her lack of emotion that actually makes her rather stubborn. She listens to orders and really not much else. So hearing the words "I'm gonna be impossible" seemed to suit her personality (or lack thereof). The repeated words "I'm seeing red" only made her more obvious. Because she is the last character of the three to take her stand, the action in her "Me against the world" sequence are more hectic and really fast. I wanted it to be really fast. But that was as fast as I could make it...WMM can only make it twice as fast or twice as slow. And anything slower then what I did would be too slow.
  
  Then all three girls take a final bow and Rei finally has her "down moment."
  
  On the down moments....I wanted to convey the message in the lyrics that "the world is winning." Naturally this would mean the girls would have to "lose" in some way. But the song does not have a depressing feel to it. It's not a funeral dirge nor is this video a satire. I didn't want their "loss" to be their major LOSS in the series. Misato looks ill because of Kaji. Asuka cries a little in her sleep, though at the moment we do not know why. A bandaged Rei looks out of the classroom window at the falling rain. Each event happens fairly early in the series. I could have picked much more depressing events but for the nature of the song it would be innappropriate.
  
  Anything in this vid that may actually look like good lip synching is a fluke. But at the same time I have a bit of mouth flapping with no words coming out. I really wanted to just get more comfortable with WMM and between this one and "Keitaro's Fantasy" (which isn't fit for viewing at all) I know I am getting better at this. I'll probably attempt to do some real synch the next time.
  
  Some final notes you may want to know before you watch
  
  This is my first REAL video that is fit for viewing. Yes...I know Evangelion is overdone. But the song isn't. Despite not being too flashy with impressive effects, it's actually something Im proud of. For something I pieced together with scissors (VitualDubMod) and glue (Windows Movie Maker 2), it's really not half bad in my opinion. :)
  
  Well....you'd probably make an Eva vid with DubMod and WMM too if it was the only footage and equipment you had to work with. :P
  
  I did make an edit with the music. Since I knew I wanted to end with the SDAT walkman, I figured it would be best to start with it as well. The actual track on the CD starts when the drums come in (the part when Misato is driving into the parking lot of Shinji's school in the video). So I copeid and pasted a few lines from the chorus and lowered the volume to make it sound as if it was being heard from a walkman with the volume turned up full blast. It goes from pretty soft to pretty loud pretty fast so DO NOT adjust your volume. It's supposed to sound that soft at first and I don't want you to jump out of your seat when the drums kick in. :P
