  • Comments: I originally started this video in October '00. This video has been in my AMV profile for almost as long, as I'd always intended on going back and finishing it. As I am typing this, it is currently May of '04, and I have just now completed the video.

When I first started working on it, I used my old PII-450 with a DC10+ capture card, Ulead Media Studio Pro for editing, and used VHS copies off LD (thanks to Joe Croasdaile) for source. With about a minute of the video completed, my editing system went on the fritz for about 10 months, and by the time it was up and running again, I had other projects I wanted to work on. So, this video went by the wayside for a few years...

Cut to 3 and a half years later, I find myself with a Karekano DVD box set, and an idea for a complex drama video. It's been years since I've seen the show, so, in order to help refamiliarize myself with the footage, I decide to finally make the video that I left on hiatus so long ago.

This uses the version of the song "Build Me Up Buttercup" from the Mallrats soundtrack...it's the song that plays when Brodie and Renee are getting it on in the elevator.

I initially considered using the original version of the song by The Foundations and calling the video "There's Something About Miyazawa" and modelling the video after the video that plays at the end of "There's Something About Mary." But I thought this version had more energy and captured the feel of Karekano better.

The video is essentially action-syncing of Miyazawa being distraught, hyper, or both, over Arima. There's no real story to the video, just quick, dumb fun.

Most importantly, to me at least, the video is finally done, and I no longer have to think about whether or not I'm going to one day go back and finish it.

Also, I take no responsibility for the jittery quality of the footage :P
