Well, this is my first full length video done using premiere and avisynth, so the editing style is completely revamped and pretty different from my older videos. This one is a lot more flow and a lot less flash. I really am happy with how it came out, and thanks to avisynth and premiere, the entire ripping/editing/encoding process took only just over 30 hours or so, whereas on my old program system it probably would've taken two to three times as long.

Anyways, on to the actual video. I've wanted to do a Mononoke video since before I can remember, but I could never find a song that I felt really worked. But then it hit he, I wanted to use the scar of time theme from Chrono Cross (the into music). However, when I was about to start editing, dwchang posted his AWA video which was, of course, Princess Mononoke to that very song. He also did quite a good job with the video too, check it out if you haven't seen it. So I was basically back to square one. Then I went out and bought Thirteenth Step. After listening to Weak and Powerless for like, the twelth time in a row, I decided to use it for my long awaited attempt at a Mononoke vid.

The video centers around Ashitaka's struggle with his cursed right arm, and how he feels weak because he has to rely upon its power so much of the time as it grows stronger and stronger. The video also depicts San's struggle against Lady Eboshi for shooting Morrow. I then focuse on the fact that both Ashitaka and San find strength and comfort from their past demons within each other. The climax of the video is their struggle to be together despite their duties (mainly San's to fight for the forest creatures) and Ashitaka's attempt to rescue San from being consumed by the second demon boar god. You'll notice I left out some massive chunks of the story (Jigo, the Forest Spirit, etc), but I really did want this video to be dedicated to Ashitaka and San more than anything or anyone else. Regarless, I hope you enjoy.
