  • Comments: For the longest time, I've wanted to make an AMV out of the 3rd OVA of Fushigi Yuugi because I don't think I've ever seen one made. Now, as usual, the song came to me first. I wasn't planning on using Fushigi Yuugi, but, as I looked through my collection of Anime, it struck me as the perfect choice. I was even more elated when I chose Mayo as the focus of this vid because I think she's one of the most underrated characters. Plus, I havne't seen a vid on her, so I'm hoping this is still an original concept. Anyway, here's my vid.

    Song:
Hahaha! I saw the music video for this song before I heard it, well I guess I saw and heard them at the same time. Anyway, I immeidately loved it, and I knew it was AMV material.

    Video:

First Verse- This part shows the reason for Mayo's actions, and how she enters the book to try and change things. For those of you who don't know, Mayo is in love with Tamahome...enough said.

First Chorus- This is mainly to emphasize Mayo's feelings towards Miaka and Tamahome's relationship and how she feels about him.

Second Verse- This part of the vid brings you back to Mayo's childhood. I placed it here to show that Mayo wasn't always the person she is today. She was actually a very good little kid. At the end of this verse I use a fade away to symbolize the deterioration of her happy family life because, in the present, her parents are on the verge of breaking up, and it's partly the reason why Mayo is so angry and "evil."

Second Chorus- This shows the consequences of Mayo's actions. In siding with evil, and trying to change everything, May must now pay the price, and, because she is part of the book now, she is starting to disappear. This is also the time when she realizes that everything she's done only harmed everyone, including herself.

Third Verse- Feeling alone and guilty, Mayo thinks that the only way to make things better was if she never existed. She feels so responsible for everything (her parents' unhappy marriage, "destroying" the world of the four gods, and trying to ruin Tamahome and Miaka's relationship) that she tries to end her life.

Final Chrouses- When all seems lost, Mayo still has a chance to redeem herself. With the help of Miaka, who has indirectly been helping her all the time, she does so. In the end, after everything has been said and done, Mayo comes out as a better person, and she sees that she is indeed loved.
