  • Comments: My first drama (?) video.

Now, I quantify drama with a (?) becuase I'm not sure how 'dramatic' this video is, but I'm moved by it, so nyah.

The basic idea for the video came to me in a flash. I was driving in my new truck, testing the soundsystem with my new Sevendust CD. The song 'Suffocate' came on. Kind of angry sounding....and the the chorus kicks in:

    "Faaaaaaade into a dream....."

"SPIRITED AWAY VIDEO!" I yelled. Luckily, I was by myself, or else I'd have probably been committed.

Now, I'm unfortunately not the best creator on the planet. So, instead of going over my head with crazy effects, I decided to keep the video as clean and simple as possible, sticking with straight cuts and fades and clip acceleration/deceleration (plus a few random effects to satisfy my desire to experiment). But the overall result pleased me more than any excessive eye-candy I could have attempted to toss in. Becuase of the fact that I hate excessive fades to white or black, I decided to fade to complementary colors (purple/yellow, blue/orange, red/green, and yes, since there were four fade sets, black/white). I am pleased with this effect, and I'll probably keep doing that in the future.

This video actually didn't take very long to create, yet I'm more happy with it than my previous two attempts.

    For the Techno-Oriented:
Editor: Adobe Premiere Pro (like using a cannon to kill flies)
Other Software: VirtualDub, AviSynth 2.5, the excellent AudioGraph filter for AviSynth, Radium MP3 codec, etc....
