I'd been a fan of Chris DeBurgh for years. I always thought it was such a shame that people only knew him from "Don't Pay The Ferryman" or "Lady In Red." "The Spirit Of Man" was such an uplifting song. I felt that Honneamise could be used to capture the story and message in the song, and hopefully more people would be exposed to his good works.

This video had a TON of story to it. The idea was that man first starts by trying to fly. He fails in the attempt, but instead of letting that dissuade him, he builds a rocket. Most of the video is about working and training towards an ideal, but it isn't just about the rocket. It's about the things that are important in life, and about WHY people work so hard to achieve something. It's about the woman on the phone, it's about the good things that we can have.

When the video was shown at Otakon 1996 (the same con as the NS video), I saw Duane Johnson's "The World I Know" Honneamise video. I was blown away by it. Not only was it an excellent video, but he also used similar cuts but also faded from one to another, or to black. Effects that beautifully added to the video, but ones that I could not do. This was my first experience with these kinds of effects, and I really wanted to do them, because they added to the video. It wouldn't be until years later that I would have the chance.
