The first version of this was actually one of my earlier videos (my second one, now that I think about it). It was originally done back when "United States of Whatever" was being played on the radio pretty regularly. So, I'd been listening to that song for a bit, and since I had just finished my first video (To A New Love), I had seen Video Girl Ai a nunber of times also. The more I thought about it, the better these two seemed to fit together. Since I still had the footage on my computer, I figured, "Hey, why not ?" and tried it out. The idea was good, and it had potential, but at that time, I still lacked the skills to pull it off well. So, I decided not to release it, and went to work on my next project.
Every once in a while though, I got a kick out of watching it. And each time, I kept thinking about the ways I could improve on it. So, this June, I took the idea and gave it a fresh start. I ended up having a few scenes the same (those were the ones I'd liked from the previous version), and giving the rest of it an overhaul. This is the end result.
The video's basically a short comedy, based upon the lyrics of this song. If you've heard "United States of Whatever", then you'll know what to expect. It's something light and nonsensical, a story about why the phrase "whatever" is truly an all-purpose answer.
