  • Comments: I was capturing source for "Hunting High and Low" (Shin Hatsubai video #4) and looking for other songs to do a Nadia series to challenge Dr. Marc Hairston's semi-legendary trilogy (the plan was originally to use "Infinity", but that was even longer and didn't work as well) when I noticed this song lining up with a lot of stuff in episode 7, just the way it was playing as the capture was going. So I decided to run with it. The seriousness makes a nice contrast to "Hunting..." which is pretty much just a fun song to listen to and less connected to the real heavy stuff in the second volume. This is a home-done "radio edit" version, as there's a neoclassical tag that stretches out over the last three minutes or so that really isn't needed. Amazingly, despite the slow feel of the song, the editing is actually tighter than the much faster "Hunting High and Low". Gotta be the skillz -- or the fact that this is SH video #13, and over a month and a half there is a lot of room for improvement.

This is basically a filler video; I didn't feel a real NEED to make it, so I had the luxury of playing around a little with the technical side of things. Thus the matching of drumbeats to the shots going through the cabin, all the feel changes, the matching of the piano to the Neo-Atlantean applause, and the big hit on "I have seen the LIGHT" that took me like 20 minutes to get into final form, since all the selection and trimming work needed to be done in the three clips leading into the clip on the hit.

Shin Hats Self-Grade: B. The audio edit is obvious, there's some clumsy editing on the original clips, and it's definitely a second-run video, but there are still a hell of a lot of upsides to this video. I wish I could have been this skilled making the first one.
