  • Comments: Hang this one (Shin Hatsubai video #14) under category 'Demo'. If you're not familiar with what demovideos are (happy the AMV maker not shanghaied into doing them for his/her club!), watch a Manga Entertainment or ADV tape release from the beginning of the tape. You'll see what I'm talking about. Lotsa shows, little time, trying to hook you. This one doesn't work too well, because it's too extreme (I'm metal, but most otaku and nearly all non-anime fans are not), but oh well. Everyone needs learning experiences, or they never get better.

This is the first video made specifically for the '01 activities fair to be run at the BAS table, and it's the one I like the least, as there's too much music for the amount of text that was scripted. Video quality is also pretty lousy most of the way through. Titles used include Perfect Blue, Kite, Ninja Scroll, X/1999, Saiyuki, Dragon Knight, and the Rurouni Kenshin OAVs. In total, I do not like most of this video, and evaluate it as a poor song choice combined with overly dark clips in most parts for a crummy overall effect.

Shin Hats Self-Grade: C. The video quality is for crap, and even though some clips are cool, most of it is desperately trying to fill up six minutes of space.
Stats: #clips: 122 (100 distinct). avg length: 2.88 sec. total time: 4 hours (new clips and final assembly only).

The prior megaupload link has been replaced with a more stable and less skeevy link to mediafire. Those wishing to download it should still be advised that this is only very tenuously an anime music video. A few more notes about the production process can be found offsite here.

This video is now on local, despite being only tenuously an AMV. This is by request; someone asked for demo 3 to go on local, and there wasn't a convincing reason not to give demos 1 and 2 the same treatment.
