• Comments: Somebody got to this video four months before me, which pissed me off to no end when I found out. However, even though I haven't seen said vid, I'm pretty sure that whoever it was didn't grayscale all his source (the heaviest use of digital effects to this point in a Shin Hatsubai video), or use any Yumede. This video, Shin Hatsubai catalog number #23, was executed with Virtual Dub, TMPEG, SSA, and a LOT of fucking patience as gift art for BAS, which is why it was starred out on the todo list. I had already dedicated like nine hours of rendering time to doing a Love Hina ep in color when I decided to go all-B&W for that "It's A Wonderful Life" feel, which sucked cuz I'll never get those CPU cycles back. I was also not originally planning to mix animes, but there was too much cool stuff in my unsubbed files of Yumede to ignore, if not enough to make a full vid to the song. In the end, only like 2 or 3 clips made it in due to the usual demands of stylistic consistency. I didn't like the original version that much, but everyone I've shown it to really likes it.
  
  
  Shin Hats Self-Grade: B. Source restrictions played havoc with this video from the very start, and I got tremendously lucky in not having to mix animes more. This is not even borderline convention-grade, but the less-critical BAS audience enjoyed it in exhibition.

  This is the only Shin Hatsubai video that has been re-edited post production. After watching it through, I realized that there was this little inclusion body of five frames that really messed everything up, so when I was working on the BAS winter '02 demo (demo #2), of which this was a part, I surgically removed those frames. Thankfully, they came at almost the end of the video and I didn't have to re-synch any hits. Both versions may or may not be in general circulation; the re-edited version does not have the opening title card or the "Merry Christmas" message at the end.
