  • Comments: Here is my tribute to the Trigun series. I was kind of disappointed with how few Trigun videos of the 400 that are out there actually had some real effort put into them, so I decided to make one that did have some effort. I spent about twice as long on this video as my previous video, "One Day", I took about 70 hours over a span of two weeks or so. It's the most serious video I made so far, but I'm happy because it's not overly depressing like I was worried it would be.

    *********WARNING*********
    MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS VIDEO!
    ***************************

    The Project:

I directly edited this project with the VOBs like last time, although it was much more difficult this time with 26 episodes to work with. Working with that many avisynth files made Premiere go really, really slow so I edited the video in twenty second or so long sections then appended the sections in Virtual Dub when I was done. It payed off, because the quality's awesome ^_^.

    Lip Sync: Didn't use any.

Digital Effects: I tried not to go crazy on the effects, but I just HAD to use some. I used the radial blur effect often, it suited some parts of the video very well. I used overlays and zoom effects, and a couple lens flares.

The Concept: It's mainly a character profile of the more serious side of Vash. Rem is a constant theme throughout the video. I tried to portray that whatever Vash did was based on the beliefs Rem gave to him, and how Rem's beliefs gave him the strength to do a lot of things. The video is also based on Vash's own strengths, and how even though he doesn't like to fight people, he fights anyway for his causes in the hope that it will let him be able to bury his past.

The Song: Even though it's really a song about believing in God, I interpreted it a bit differently. But some of the lyrics suited Trigun and Vash so well it was almost scary! It's a good song, and it suited what I really wanted to do in a Trigun video: there was sentimentalism, inspiration and some action mixed in. I tried to incorporate each of these attributes from the song into the video.

    The Lyrics:

I didn't come looking for trouble,
And I don't want to fight needlessly,
But I'm not gonna hide in a bubble
    If trouble comes for me.

I can feel my heart beating faster,
I can tell something's coming down.
If it's gonna make me grow stronger--then

    (Chorus)
    Bring it on,
Let the lightning flash, let the thunder roll, let the storm winds blow
    Bring it on,
Let the trouble come, let the hard rain fall, let it make me strong
    Bring it on.

    Maybe you're thinking I'm crazy,
And maybe I need to explain some things.
'Cuz I know I've got an enemy waiting
Who wants to bring me pain.

What he never seems to remember,
What it means for evil God works for good,
So I will not retreat or surrender.

    Repeat Chorus

I don't wanna sound like some hero,
'Cuz it's God alone that my hope is in,
But I'm not gonna run from the very things
That would drive me closer to Him,
    So bring it on.

    Bring it on,
Let the lightning flash, let the thunder roll, let the storm winds blow,
    Bring it on,
Let the trouble come, let it make me fall on the one who's strong,
    Bring it on,
Let the lightning flash, let the thunder roll, let the storm winds blow,
    Bring it on,
Let me be made weak so I know the strength of the one who's strong,
    Bring it on.

This video is one of my better ones, although I don't think I like as much as One Day. But it's still a good video in terms of me^_^ So please give it a download and leave any comments you might have^_^
