Comments:
First and foremost, if a mostly non-music parody video is considered outside the scope of this site, I apologize profusely. Mods please delete etc etc. There's music at points in the video, but I wouldn't consider it an AMV, and I've been hesitant about putting it up at a place like this for exactly that reason. I changed my mind, though!
Subatomic Brainfreeze Studios' Animation GET!! - The Exploit of Anime Produce no MANIACS (Animation GET!! for short though I hear Anige is coming into style) is a heartwarming coming-of-age tale about two young men (voiced by myself and the mysterious "RJ") who set out to conquer the anime industry. Guided by a series of broad, cynical generalizations about what makes a popular (and therefore profitable) anime franchise, our heroes create and destroy Animation GET!!, the feel-good, crowd-pleaser mecha-bishie-sports-shonen-shoujo-angst-moe anime of the century.
This is my first video and I had no idea what I was getting into when I first started to write the script. As such, you're not going to see any advanced video tricks here. It was enough of a struggle for me to figure out how to sync up the video. I would go so far as to say that the video doesn't have any technical merits at all! And the intermission and credits are way too long! This is very much the wrong place for eye candy! But you know what it does have? It's got gags and jokes and laughs and love. Love everywhere. So if that's your thing... have at it.
A note on the music entries: while My Boyfriend Is A Pilot is indeed Ms. Ijima's original version from the Macross TV series, it will become apparent that the people singing Sora Tobu Mazinger Z and Meguriai are not in fact Ichiro Mizuki or Daisuke Inoue. I sang (screamed) Sora Tobu Mazinger Z, and my good friend Alison Nishiyama sang Meguriai. I didn't want to list us under "artists", obviously.
On cons: This was shown at Saturday Night Fan Parodies at Otakon 2005 (it was that weird thing between STEAM and Re-Death). I didn't put it in the cons section because it wasn't a competition video.
This isn't the first time I've distributed the video; it was torrented back in September.
And uh, it seems after all that, I can't host this video on AMV.org (it's just too big, and I wouldn't be able to get it down to 100mb without it looking awful.) My apologies.
By the way, I totally reserve all Tatami-tan merchandising rights.
