But with grayscaling and deliberately degraded quality, digisubs were a perfect match for old-school monster-movie-style deathmetal. Hence Shin Hatsubai video #45, a return to the roots of the studio. It's the first video using Death in the database, though there will be more.

Though like #23 (is there a Jordan effect going on here or something?), #45 is dominated by the inescapable presence of digital processing (the whole video was made from grayscaled source), there are no other digital or other special effects in the main body of the video. The video track fades in and out from black at the start and end, but aside from this, it's just straight jump-cutting and pure edit metal mastery from front to back.

This video is headed for Ohayocon '03. No compromise was made between convention requirements and brutal inspiration in the editing process of this video. It was extreme in concept from the start and was not changed either conceptually or in the editing process with any end towards making it more acceptable for anybody.

Shin Hats Self-Grade: A-. Problems with source usability held this video back, but it came out as a quite worthy product, and less extreme than #30, so it can still be shown in public. The editing is a little rough at the start, but improves throughout, and finishes damn tight. I would have liked not to use Bible Black, but the integration was pretty much seamless, and the lower source quality of that title didn't turn out to matter much.

This video is back online via an indirect link at megaupload.com. You'll have to jump through a couple hoops to get it, but if the page is not there, let me know, as this usually means that nobody's downloaded the file in the last 30 days and it got deleted.
