Need .avi coded help please!
Hello friends.
I have these vid files, they are some sort of .avi. I can play most any other .avi just fine, and I used to be able to use these files before my computer crashed and I had my codecs in line. My friends are able to play the files too.
Please Please Please help me use these.

Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

Install CCCP and you're good to go.
...in the off-chance that it's in a codec that can't be decoded with ffdshow, then grab mediainfo and tell us what codec it says is embedded in there.

The site where I got the files recommended CCCP, but I can't seem to get it working.
Error:
"Messages file C:\Program Files\Combined Community Codec Pack\unins000.msg is missing. Please correct the problem or obtain a new copy of the program."
I tried to re-download a newer version of it, I guess I had attempted to install it before as I had an older version here on my comp, but attempting to install either the new version or the old one had the same message, and I can't seem to uninstall it, either with the uninstall command in the folder, or through Add/Delete Programs.

Re: Need .avi coded help please!
When you install cccp, it keeps an uninstall tool to remove everything it comes with, and when you want to install a newer version, it will first run the uninstaller in order to remove the previous version so that it will do a clean install.
You probably somehow removed the uninstaller, but there are traces that there was an older version installed, so the CCCP installer recognizes that, but can't actually run the installer, thus you get that error message.
The best thing you can do is check with the Insurgent what traces are there and try to remove those one by one.

But I have no idea how to do that.. What is the Insurgent?

Thanks, I think I have that working, and I have a menu pop up, but I'm not sure what to do next. ::sigh:: I don't suppose the people who make this codec have some sort of tech support, do they?mirkosp wrote:http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccpi

They do have a forum for support, as well as an IRC channel.
