As this video has generated a lot of controversy I think I should explain something. This isn't a music video. It's a fan parody. It's 52 minutes in length, so making an MPEG and hosting would be REALLY hard. I appologize, but at the moment the only way to get ahold of a copy is on VHS.
I know that this is a major pain in the butt, and will probably piss a lot of people here off (since it's highly rated and you can't download it). Please check out the website at http://welcome.to/otakudom for details on how to get a copy.
I debated whether or not I should even list it on this site. However, there are a LOT of parodies on this site, including fake commercians, movie trailers, and brilliant short films. It's anime, there's a lot of music (even a couple of AMV style bits) and it's done by an AMV creator (and 40 of his closest friends), and it's about anime fans. Hopefully it's cool to list it.
That being said:
The parody is basically a take on "This Is Spinal Tap" (a fake "Rocumentary" about a fake rock & roll band) and "Otaku No Video." It's a fake documentary about american anime fans going to a convention, using mainly Fushigi Yuugi footage as well as lots of clips from other shows. It spoofs all different kinds of fans and features commercials, fake interviews, music-video style bits, really atrocious singing, and tons and tons of jokes. REALLY atrocios singing.
It's been at several cons on the east coast, and we're trying to get it to more. It's been shown to packed rooms (no exaggeration) at Shoujocon, Nekocon, Katsucon, Ohayocon, Sugoicon, and others. It will be shown at Anime Central, Anime Midatlantic, PortConMaine, Sakuracon, Animagic, JaCon, Ushicon, and several others. Please check out the website for more info, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to see it!
I directed, edited, produced, acted, and was the chief writer, but there were actually about 40 or so people involved. It was crazy, and took us 8 months to make. There are tons of in- and obvious jokes, fan parody references, con staff guest stars, and general mayhem. I hope you like it. Hopefully I can get it hosted sometime...
Hopefully there will be many parody projects in the future.
