Any ending can be considered an ending. If you wanted to start the ending at the end of the first season of something, and then start with the second season as the "after story" that's acceptable.

You can do either. The after story or ending can be official or unofficial. But if you do something too simple, then I'm sure the judges will not score as high as somebody that did something unique.

Really, you have the freedom to do whatever you want. Heck, you could make up a story on your own. What counts here is the execution of your after story, not so much where it comes from.
