A friend of mine recently asked the question "What songs that remind you of a particular point in your life?". There were a few I could think of but the one that stood out most to me was not really a song, but a whole album.
It was May 2005 when "Demon Days" by the Gorillaz was released. I was smack dab in the middle of college at the now defunct Brooks College (long story). Being that I was in an animation class, the Gorillaz resonated more with my particular ilk of people than most others. Hell, "Feel Good Inc" basically became our class theme song. So much so that seemingly for a month straight, I would hear song played at least once a day. However, we did enjoy the entire album. Many afternoons were spent lounging around in dorms listening to "El Maņana" or "Dirty Harry" (When we weren't killing racist kids online in Halo 2). I miss college, a lot. Most of my fellow students never made it into the industry. Most scattered into the wind not long after graduation. I only regret not taking the whole thing serious enough, if I did, I probably wouldn't be in such a mess nowadays. Besides all that, every so often I'll blast "Demon Days" and remember the good ol' days of animation school.
Vid Progress: Post Production whatever
So we managed to submit to AX with no hassle. No long nights or last minute hustling. Now we have fix this thing as best we can before letting it go into the wild. This is probably the oddest part of editing since I don't really care about whats right and will obsess over what's wrong. So much so that eventually when I do watch the video down the line, all I can "see" are the flaws. Makes watching finished videos a very uncomfortable experience, especially in public.
Even though I love basketball, It be nice to have a team to root for. To hell with all these remaining teams.

So recently the fine folks at Xbox decided to have sale where certain games get a pretty substantial discount. I decided to pick up Resident Evil:Code Veronica and was pretty excited. Then I actually started playing...How the fuck did we manage with these shitty controls for so long? I guess it adds to the inherent desperation but geez. ( I missed the RE boat back in the day, my first entry was the masterful RE4 on PS2). Although I will admit that games nowadays seem way easier. Also helps that most games now are not arcade based, since arcade games are designed to insult your ego, forcing you to jam more quarters in to quench your need to prove you don't suck, fuck you Shredder...
Vid Progress: 20% (And falling)
Seemingly, I'm always in a rut and my editing suffers for it. I have some scenes masked but I'm not making the progress I would like. This is especially more insulting since the video will probably be only 2 minutes long and kinda really isn't an AMV. I know I promised not to rush myself to meet Con deadlines (Is it really AX time again already?) but this is kind of ridiculous.

Back in the saddle

Holiday shopping? screw that, I'm broke. Instead, holiday editing. After replacing my failed hard drive with a new one, buying all my sources and dumping them onto the new drive, were ready to go down the creative rabbit hole yet again. Hopefully this video doesn't take over a year to do and doesn't cause as much emotional turmoil as the last one.
Vid Progress: Rough Draft
This is probably the hardest part (besides masking of course) of any video. Having to sort through footage, picking clips, discarding entire sections of the video, so forth. But, as we move along the process, its gets far easier, save for the usual problem solving the comes up when putting a vid together. This time around however, even more effort will have to be put into figuring out the look beforehand, it paid dividends last time and I did't even do that much prep work. The wheels be turnin'...
