  • AMV things and the VCAs 2004-02-02 01:03:19 First I'd like to thank everyone who nominated my video. I was very surprised to have the nominations I did and am even more surprised and honoured to be even considered for “Creator of the Year” along side Ian Roberts, Tim Park, and everyone else nominated. I think it’s important to look at the award as something that goes beyond just having the most popular video(s).

BTW Metalwolf, don't despair too much, really in the end its the enjoyment of making the videos that's important. I’ve pretty much concluded that no matter of the nominations or any or the awards that I have received over the years, I still find the only reason I have continued to make AMVs is because I enjoy it making them and conveying somewhat my feelings (soul) in them. The day It stops being enjoyable or a reflection of one self, then no matter how popular my current work may be, is the day I will consider stopping.

The VCAs are pretty much a popularity contest and in the end I've noticed the largest amount of nominations go to those that are the popular creators here on the org. Now that goes to say that there is nothing wrong with that or that the videos do not deserve a nomination, but it does tend to limit exposure to a lot of deserving videos. I hope in the end there will not be a "Sweep" of the awards by anyone since I feel there are a still a lot of nominated videos that do deserve something and not one video deserves everything.

All I can say is everyone who reads this, if you are going to vote, please watch all the videos and consider the best for each of the categories they are nominated in instead of just what happened to be the most popular video(s) of the past year.

  • AWA Aftermath 2003-10-02 13:13:53 Well, since AWA is now over, I should have more time to dedicate to other projects than just AMVs... I think this fall I'll also be working on a DVD release of all my videos as well as making Xvid encodes of my most current videos as well...

In terms of next year, I'm not quite sure what videos/porjects I'll be doing and will make some decisions in this fall...

  • Another AMV season and time of relections 2003-05-13 01:43:29 Well, I've finished with two major videos I planed on doing this year.. One of then is in a catagory I've not really visited and so I'm not sure what people's reactions will be to it. Nevertheless, I had so much fun making it, that in itself should be reward enough....

Ironically, my first major video I did in 2001 still happens to be my most popular.. Funny thing is I would never had though it when I first made it. I guess I will have to have it played at my funeral after all since some may only know me by that alone...

It's interesting how the whole AMV thing has evolved. Several years into the digital revolution and having the bar pushed further up, the intensity and amount of videos continue to climb. Someone on the AMV group once wondered where it's all going.. Hmmm That's tough to answer since who would have know that this little hobbly would evolve into such a massive community wht it's own fans... Who would of ever imagined that AMV creators would even be invited as guests to conventions! In the end I hope that the hobby feel to doing this will not go away, it's really what it's all about and the whole point I would assume why we still do it...

    Time will tell....
