  • Comments: This is a video I made strictly on a whim, much like my "What's My Destiny (Kai version)" video I made. I have just recently gotten into a very fun and hot-blooded show called Sengoku Basara, based on the hugely popular video games of the same name by Capcom. If a show like this were based on American history, it would be set during the Civil War, and we'd have U.S. Grant and Jeff Davis all decked out in awesome blue / gray battle suits, much like Masamune and Yukimura's outfits on the show.

The first season's OP has a dance that goes with it, called "Ashigaru Dance" (or "Foot Soldier Dance"). It's a hard dance to learn, but if you break it down, it becomes a lot of fun. This dance is the masculine answer to "Hare Hare Yukai" that made the rounds several years back. You'll see the cast of Sengoku Basara "perform" the dance -- thanks to some skillful users of MikuMikuDance -- as well as some live-action versions as seen elsewhere on Youtube.

The video basically serves as a tribute to the video game series, the first season of the anime, and the Ashigaru Dance. The theme song is by abingdon boys school (from their self-titled album), made of members of TM Revolution, and the title is a three-letter racial slur for one who lives in Japan -- apparently abingdon boys school didn't realize that this title can be considered slightly offensive to some people, but hey, Sengoku Basara sure isn't a PC show!

Please enjoy this tribute video. It took a lot of time, but it was fun to make.
