Hello folks, thought I was dead?
Well, this is my first AMV in about 7-8 years.
This AMV came from a ooold concept I had since high school that was originally going to be a huge CLAMP thing, but it didn't happen to either due to lack of time, interest and probably disk space.
I revisited this idea back in 2013, but I didn't pursue it mainly due to not knowing how to get a handle on BD footage and just not feeling the edit bug as I thought at the time, so I again abandoned it. I was going to make it to show at one of the theaters that was going to show Madoka Magica: Rebellion in my State as a way to get people all pumped up, but then better judgment got to me so that was another reason why I abandoned it as well.
Lets fast forward to 2015
So I've been doing this podcast called Otaku Midnight for the past year and a half and I really wanted the streams to be more structured and TV like; not just some raw, recorded hangouts call so I started to do video intros for it after figuring out youtube has a way to stream via OBS and there's a plugin for that system to play videos on stream. So I did altered OPs with our credits smacked on to it, then that concept came to mind again when I started talking about doing a huge special for Madoka as a revisit to the first ever podcast I did.
At first, this AMV didn't happen.
Originally, it was going to be an altered OP, but with some changes, but then I thought, "This is Madoka! My favorite anime ever! I need to do something BIG!" and so I revisited this concept, and it wasn't without struggle.
So the first thing I did was the intro star field which I learned off of a tutorial on youtube and boy it was sure something when I figured it all out (CC particle world is amazing, btw!) so I got that done, the only hard part was making the "hyperspace" part.
So got that squared away, then the real editing starts.
I was having a REAL difficult time editing this thing because of the issues I had back in 2013 (no AVIsynth support since I'm on x64 Premiere, and .m2ts files being hard to edit and seek to the right scenes) and also I thought it wasn't going to go anywhere, but I kept coming back.
So 1.5TB's of lagarith AVIs later (in hindsight, I should have used a better lossless codec, heheh), so after that, it was smooth sailing.
I had SO MUCH fun editing this when I was inspired as all get out. In fact, there were more things I wanted to do, but I didn't have time.
So I hope you enjoy this AMV I released via my podcast. This video will be revised and it will be touring the various AMV contests, but the original "Otaku Midnight" version will remain (unlike George Lucas, I make the originals easily available! :p )
Also, this marks the first time I did an AMV in HD, and encode in hi-10p (which is AMAZING btw) and use MKV for distro.
I hope you all like!
And I hope I hear some nice feedback, I don't have as much time as I want to do these things, but I feel inspired enough to do more!
Later,
kyuubethe3rd (my new handle)
