  • Comments: This was my video made for AWA's 2019 Pro contest. It is very much not the kind of thing I'm used to editing. I came back from Nan Desu Kan of that year enamored with JazzsVids' video Vamped, and found myself really wanting to test myself by making a super fast-paced action video.

In addition to this not being the kind of thing I'm familiar with editing from a stylistic perspective, I also never, ever would have envisioned myself editing with One Punch Man, as even though I like the series I've gotten burned out on AMVs that use it and have never had any desire to do so myself. The day my wife and I came back from NDK, though, we binged through all of OPM S2, and I found myself really liking Garou as a character -- he was by far my favorite part of the show. Although I still wasn't particularly crazy about the idea of making a OPM video, I thought there was enough there that I could make a decent Garou character profile while still doing something really action-heavy. Given the upcoming AWA deadline and my love of entering the Pro contest each year, I set to work on this.

"Boy Meets Evil", in contrast, is a song I've been wanting to edit with for years. I've gotten pretty familiar with BTS over the past couple years, as my wife is in love with them and I like K-pop more generally. This song has always been in my file cabinet of "waiting for the right anime/concept", and I was finally able to pull it out for this one. So long as you don't look up the lyrics (they have absolutely nothing to do with what happens in the video, unfortunately), I think it all works pretty well.

I'm generally happy with this. It's not a style of video I'm going to be pursuing too heavily in the future -- there's a reason I don't tend to edit action, much less really fast-paced action like this -- but I think this came out about as well as I could have hoped given the kind of stuff I normally make. Don't look too deeply into it and maybe you'll like it too!

    Technical notes
Edited in Sony Vegas 15.0. Best guess for amount of time spent on it is probably like 10-15 hours.
