Comments:
This is a video I've had in mind for a while now. Around the time I saw VicBond007's "Die Another Day" video, I had just finished watching the movie Spriggan. I felt that those two items would just go very well together for an AMV.
The video is somewhat influenced by VicBond007's illustrious "Cowboy Bebop 007" and "Die Another Day" videos. I did want to dabble a little in more action-driven sync and editing, so I looked primarily to those two videos for lots of ideas on action sync. It's also influenced by the English seiyuu playing the lead in Spriggan, Chris Patton. He did his first really awesome (and loud!) character for ADV Films as Ominae Yu... and I give him major props to him for succeeding in pulling off such a difficult and intense role.
There is a minor spoiler near the 2:30-2:55 mark of the video, but really, since Spriggan can be considered 2 films in one (if you've seen it), this AMV doesn't spoil too much at all. Enjoy.
6/26/05: I need to mention something: though I didn't win anything at Anime Mid-Atlantic, I had people come up to me throughout the weekend at AMA raving about this video. They told me point-blank that they didn't vote for my video, but they still liked my video a lot, especially as were saying that to me with such genuine enthusiasm. I think it's extremely rare for people to tell me (or any editor for that matter) that they didn't vote for my video but it still was top-notch. I've never actually been so proud of a video that I still didn't win for. I may have been initially very disappointed when I found out that I didn't win anything for it at AMA, but I am very comforted by the fact that I was many people's second-favorite video in their hearts.
Thank you for the wonderful e-mails and comments I've gotten about this video thus far. Throughout the setbacks that I have encountered in this journey as an AMV editor, it's the nice things like this that keep me motivated and ambitious in my little AMV hobby.
