• Comments: It's no surprise that being a huge fan of Miyazaki would have me make yet another video that centers around his work. While working on my View to a Kill AMV, I decided to take a break from that project and make another video (How ironic is making an another video to take a break from making a video!) and hence this piece was created.
  
  One of my favorite things about Miyazaki is his love of flight, as I myself have a fascination with flight as well, thus I wanted to make a video that conveys this passion. The video itself focuses on three of Miyazaki's classics of Nausicaa, Laputa and Pork Roso, all of which deal with man made flight as opposed to magical fight as in Whispers of the Heart, Spirited Away or Kiki's Delivery Service.
  
  Once I had the concept, I need to find a piece of music that would fit well with both Miyazaki's work and give a high level of energy, as I wanted to have the video be more action based rather than sentimental. Most creators have mentioned that they usually will come across the song/music first that fits the anime. Myself however seem to have the opposite approach, as I think of a concept and spend a great deal of time developing it even before I find the music. This makes it particularly harder as a lot of time is spent on listening to as much music as I can. Finding the music was the hardest part of this video as I wanted something classical that fit well with Miyazaki's themes, but at the same time was fast passed and had high energy.
  
  I actually listened to Classical Gas very early on while I was searching for music, but wanted to see if I could find something more recent and different. But in my mind I kept returning to this piece until it finally just hit me that this worked perfectly, as Classical Gas is a piece that has it’s roots in the 60s (is a classic) and yet feels timeless. This tends to reflect in Miyazaki's work and feel.
  
  Keeping up with the fast pace of the music meant that several of the footage needed to be sped up, a common practice in AMVs. Up to this point, I never manipulated the speed in any of my other two Miyazaki videos as I like to present his work as it, but found it necessary for this video. I also wanted to set a more classic feel to the video before going into the fast paced action and so I scanned several images from the Arts Books and turned them into “sketch images” using Photoshop and set them as a “slide Show” to the guitar beginning of the video.
  
  Overall, this video took about 3-4 weeks to complete and found very enjoyable to work on. I feel I achieved my goals of conveying both my and Miyazaki's love of flight.
